I7700K OC HELP
Hi guys,
i have a i7700k cpu and a H100i cpu cooler.
I have my 7700k OC to 5ghz 1.35v
my temps at 10 percent load are around 55-
My temps on prime 95 full stress are around 80-87
i know this is high i have just recently today used thermal paste again after been recommended to re thermal my cpu and its made a slight difference but do i either tune it down as the H100i may not be able run 5ghz properly or is the H100i potentially faulty?
Any advise would be highly appreciated cheers
Taking into account the speed and voltage, those temperatures seem typical and within limits, provided you don't run at them frequently. Certain games tend to put a lot of strain on the CPU, making AC Origins a good choice for me. If Prime95 is the only method above 80, it shouldn't cause concern.
Do you use the corsair link program for managing the fan and pump speed in your cooler? If so, you can also try Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal thermal paste. It has significantly reduced my maximum temperatures from 70°C to 62°C during the hottest game. Applying it is a bit more challenging since it's liquid rather than paste, and it may require several passes to cover all surfaces properly. However, it performs better than any other thermal paste I've used in 30 years.
Yes, I use that setup, and I should check the fan and pump settings. Could I also test it later to see if temperatures are too high?
Adjust the pump to full power and set the fan to a louder setting or whatever level feels best for you.
If temperatures still aren't improving, then lower it to 4.8GHz.
