You're looking to split your current setup into two distinct systems. For the VR experience, you'll want a powerful CPU and a capable GPU—ideally a Ryzen 7 or similar for smooth performance. The GTX 1080 is decent but may struggle with modern VR, so consider pairing it with a mid-range GPU like the RTX 3060 or similar for better results. For the media server, a strong CPU paired with a modern GPU such as the RTX 4060 or similar would handle streaming efficiently. Keep in mind your existing components and budget, but aim for balance between performance and compatibility.

Highlighted improvement in single-threaded speed brings 7700 to VR. 1080 aligns closely with Vega 64's performance, at your discretion

It's recommended to choose the 7700 for your RIFT because of VR's sensitivity to latency.
