Observed elevated temperatures on my system. Reinstated Arctic Silver 3, pump spinning at 3000rpm, fans set to 'silent' in CAM. Coolant reads 33°C, CPU idle temps near 40°C. Running Cinebench causes rapid spikes to 80°C or higher (open case, no airflow concerns). Ambient is about 20°C. Is this typical behavior? My GPU stays around 43°C (RTX2080). Setup uses a Fractal R6 case with front radiator, 2x140mm intake and one 140mm exhaust.
The issue is that closing my case (with the glass panel off) causes temperatures to increase by roughly 10°C to 15°C. I aim to reduce fan noise, so airflow isn’t maximized, which is why I chose the Kraken. Placing three 120mm fans at the top created a lot of noise and didn’t significantly help. Now I use just one 140mm fan at the back for exhaust.
To reduce heat, consider lowering the voltage. It lowered my laptop's temperature from 70-75 to 65 at maximum performance with the GPU off or idle.
