I7 8700k Auto OC or manual?

Hello. My setup includes an ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F GAMING, an i7 8700k processor, Corsair H75 hydro cooling, and I attempted to overclock from BIOS to 4.8. After two minutes of stress in Prime95, the temperature reached 85 degrees. Is this typical? Should I consider manual overclocking? Does the cooling system support this level of OC?

Ensure your h75 pump operates at the appropriate speed. The Asus 5-way optimization made it behave like a fan running at 300rpm. Also, manual OC gave better outcomes compared to Auto OC.

The temps at H75 are near the budget limit for OC, won't take you very far, and Auto OC is really bad.

You might want to update the cooling system and perform a manual overclock. For the BIOS, check the recommended voltage settings and available options carefully.
