Hi all,
I'm planning to assemble a system tonight using an MSI Gaming Z270 M5 and an i7 7700k. To keep it cool, I intend to install a Hyper 212. While I aim for minimal overclocking and am comfortable with stock speeds, I've read on forums that others with similar builds are experiencing high CPU temperatures. Should I worry and get a water-cooled unit before starting?

My readings on prime95 at 4.8ghz with 1.340 volts on a H115i are consistently around 80c. Under CPUz load, I only reached 66. The voltage tends to vary even when using manual settings—it seems. My BIOS is configured at 1.340 for comparison. If you're planning to go air or need pricing info for air cooling, consider the NH-D15 noctua air cooler. It performs comparably to the top 5 water-cooled closed loop systems available. You might also want to check the leading water-cooled loops for a broader perspective. This review covers all six coolers, though it focuses on the NH-D15.

i have a 240mm aio and i can't use voltages above 1.26 or more before reaching 80c, so if you're not planning to delid you better get a really good cooler.

I have a 240mm AIO and I can't use voltages higher than 1.26 before going over 80°C, so if you're not planning to delid, you should get a really good cooler. This Kaby Lake is too hot for a CM Hyper 212. You'll either need to improve your cooling or risk voiding your warranty.
