Hello! Nice to chat. Your setup sounds great for modern gaming—especially with those high-res settings you mentioned. Upgrading from GTX 1080 Ti to RTX 4070 Ti could definitely boost performance, especially if you're aiming for stable 60 FPS in games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Hogwarts Legacy. DLSS 3 might help too, but it depends on your specific titles and system configuration. Let me know if you want more details!

The 7700K is starting to feel a bit outdated now, but with newer titles at 2K you should still see some performance gains. You’ll likely need to stick with the older quad-core model for the 4070 Ti. For a personal upgrade, I’d consider the 13th generation Intel chips. Zen 4 is an alternative, though I think Intel’s current lineup offers better value, especially in the mid-range range with i5s and i7s. You should still manage to hit around 60 fps in most games, but multitasking won’t be ideal. Running background tasks will be tougher, and the 4 Skylake cores won’t keep up anymore. If you plan to upgrade your GPU, make sure to match it with a platform upgrade for a smoother experience.

At 1440p resolution, performance will be heavily limited by a 7700K. All the titles you referenced are demanding on the CPU, and even with a 3070, they’ll still create a bottleneck. DLSS supports the GPU but adds extra work for the CPU, not the other way around.

Your current frame rate is around 60 FPS on High settings. Checking your system stats shows the CPU and GPU are using a significant portion of resources—likely limiting performance.

I already notice a bottleneck with my i7-7700 and 1060. Probably a 7770k would make things even worse with a 4070ti, right? I'm sure RT is affected by the CPU too, not just the GPU.

If you are OK with Frame Generation You do have a boost. DLSS do Absolutly nothing when you are CPU limited. You ideally want to upgrade to 5600. You could do that with <300$. But the gpu will be held back by the cpu so if you can wait get a 4060 or something and use FG

The 10th/11th gen i3 is causing significant delays for your 1080Ti in certain situations. A more powerful graphics card would perform much better. In my view, upgrading the GPU isn't necessary—better the platform first. Once that's improved, you'll see a noticeable boost, and then consider upgrading the GPU later. The new system will support stronger cards effectively.

Thanks for the update. I'm moving up to 13700K. @Spotty: I'm still seeing around 40-50 fps, rarely hitting 60, with a low of about 30 fps. Regarding CPU temps, it's between 50-60°C at 4.6Ghz and 70-75°C on my GPU—just Low to Medium settings. I'm not sure about the exact utilization percentage, so I'll check again during gameplay.

Hey! Have you managed to upgrade yet? I’m still figuring it out and thinking about whether swapping out the motherboard and CPU makes sense.
