i7 6700k over 1.4v
i7 6700k over 1.4v
Quick Note: This is my first time overclocking beyond my old HD6970 experience, so I’m not very familiar with the process.
I’ve heard that pushing a processor above 1.4v isn’t ideal, but I recently saw in CPU Z that my i7 6700k (currently at 4.6GHz) is often running around 1.44v and performing well. It stays very stable, actually quite reliable. I’m able to render 3-minute 4K videos at 60fps in about 16 minutes—far better than the 10 hours it took on my previous setup. I don’t want to lower the voltage out of fear of blue screens, but I feel like I’m making my i7 6700k work too hard and risking its lifespan. Here’s a screenshot for your reference:

For context, here are the specs:

Corsair h100i v2
MSI Z170A Gaming M7
Great job, OC! Congrats on the stability. Everything looks fine.
It's a bit too high in voltage, but we'll see how reliable it remains.

Alright, thanks.
