I7-5820K overclocking concerns and uncertainties
Hello, I'm just starting with overclocking and noticed XTU offers a straightforward method. I successfully boosted my 5820K to around 3.9-4.1ghz, but I'm hitting limits on current and EDP. My core voltage is fixed at 1.3V and all cores max out at 4.2ghz, yet I'm still facing throttling. I don’t have thermal or power limits, my temps stay between 50-60°C, but I’m unsure how to bypass this restriction. My motherboard is a X99 WIFI G1 EVGA 850B2 power supply. Also, I’m confused about why pushing the multiplier higher keeps me below the actual clock speed—like if a 43x multiplier gives 4.2ghz, then 42x should give 4.1ghz, but it doesn’t seem to work. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?
here's a cpu-z screenshot if needed (not overclocked at the time i took this picture)
