I7 2600 released in 2020?
hello everyone, i’m from a place where everything costs twice as much. I’m around 15 years old, have an i5 2400k, gtx 1650, and 8gb ram. i notice lots of bottlenecks and frame drops when playing many cpu-heavy games. i’m thinking about upgrading to something better like an i7 2600 or i7 3770 because it seems the best fit for me. i don’t need to change the motherboard, ram, or anything else. i also want an rtx 2060 or maybe a gtx 1660. will that cause bottlenecks? could it fail soon since the second gen to third gen is kind of outdated?
Unless you can afford the CPU at a low cost, I wouldn't bother. The i7-2600 is a solid chip (I own one in my workshop setup, check my signature for build info), and it performs well even now. However, if your work involves heavy CPU tasks, consider upgrading to a more powerful platform. Upgrading won’t cause the CPU to fail—CPUs typically last a long time.
It's not that demanding, it's just games that require 99 of my i5 2400 and 60 of my GPU.
You’d likely skip it if you were 15 without work and had a Ryzen 5 3100, since the Ryzen offers better performance for your budget. The I7 2600 or 3770 would cost more but provide a noticeable speed boost, making the trade-off worthwhile.
In that scenario, the older chips seem more appropriate. I hadn't considered your budget limits before.
I don't have a GPU or play games. Let me know if you'd like help with something else!
Uses GTX 1080 with Hitman and Forza games, 1440p at 144Hz display, running at full brightness.
