Hello, I placed a new PSU (RM750). My motherboard seems to have faulty VRM without a heatsink. Should I increase the power from 65W to 135W? I wasn’t sure until I watched a video with a similar build that does it using the non-fan version. I checked hwinfo and noticed my CPU hits power limits during editing and gaming. A Cinebench test showed my multicore performance matches an i7-7th gen. I’m using an aftermarket cooler (Arctic Freezer 7x) and considered adding a custom fan to blow air directly onto the VRM.
Place a fan over the VRMs, increase the power limit, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, consider swapping the CPU and board for a used 5600X and a new or refurbished B450 for improved single-core performance.
