You may have an Intel MCE active on certain boards. It turns on during XMP configuration.

I enabled XMP to run RAM at 3200MHz using profile 1. To turn MCE off, you should verify the settings—your ASUS Z370 Prime II already has MCE disabled, and you mentioned it’s not increasing voltages either. Check your BIOS or power management configuration for confirmation.
