I5 9600K running issues leading to stuttering
Hello, I was playing RDR2 on PC with a 5700 XT. The FPS typically hovered around 75, offering stable performance at 2k with high-ultra settings. While gaming, I noticed frequent minor stutters that were quite bothersome. Lowering the graphics didn’t fully fix the problem—it improved but wasn’t a complete solution. I tried several fixes and eventually found a user who resolved my issue by switching to a W10 power plan set to performance mode, which kept the CPU at 100% all the time. This eliminated the stuttering completely. I’m seeking advice on ways to address this without using the performance power plan, as I prefer not to keep the CPU constantly at full capacity. I’ve done some GPU optimization and UV adjustments but have no prior experience with CPU settings. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
You have the option to adjust the lowest processor state in the advanced settings of a power plan, even if it doesn't match the default 100% setting. I modified it to suit my needs.
That would likely repeat the problem. A balanced power plan keeps the CPU usage at a low level, so lowering it further might not fix the issue. I’ll give it a shot.
I've also observed micro stutter in RDR2 when using a balanced power plan, but only after realizing that my CPU clocks would fall below the base speed during gameplay. This issue only appears with RDR2 and disappears when switching to the High Performance mode, which fixes it. However, this doesn't happen in other games, and the clock drops are so quick I initially missed them.
