I5-9400 - Stepping mode active? Also, understand BCLK OC concepts.
Just installed my $129 best buy i5-9400 with the new R0 stepping. It's an S-spec SRG0Y. I found out that the P0 stepping uses 8-core dies with some disabled cores, which were soldered in. It seems the chip is locked, so it shouldn't matter much. I'm curious if this model uses TIM or STIM. Also, how should I set the BCLK OC? I've never done this before, but if I can reach 39x102.5 MHz, I'm close to hitting around 4 GHz all cores. I managed to boot at 102 MHz with a stable 3.978 GHz frequency, so the board should work. It starts blue-screened quickly. What other adjustments should I make to try and get it stable? Everything matches what I had listed in my notes.
