i5 7600k and Noctua NH-D15
i5 7600k and Noctua NH-D15
Hey!
In the coming two months, I'm planning to upgrade my system. I was considering getting a Noctua NH-D15 for an i5 7600k, aiming to overclock it to 4.5-4.8. Would this component be sufficient or should I look for something else?
Thanks!
A D15 offers a significant cooling capacity for a relatively inexpensive i5. This cooler is suitable for even high-power processors like the FX9590 or an overclocked i7 6950x. Of course, it will perform adequately.
It's not the most economical option, but it provides good value if you prioritize raw performance over cost. The low heat output of an i5 allows you to run the fans at a lower speed, reducing noise. Even more advantageous is that this cooler is durable and can support future upgrades to more powerful chips.

I received an NH-U14S for it, which was more than enough, but I had a large case and needed quieter operation. It's powerful but about half the weight of D15 and maintains a cool feel. It depends on what you can find for D15 and whether you intend to upgrade later.
