I've adjusted my i5 6600k to 4.5Ghz and lowered the voltage to around 1.28V. Is this a typical overclock? Many people can reach this level, but sustaining it at 4.9Ghz under heavy testing would be challenging. This is my first attempt at overclocking.

It is typical. 4.4 to 4.6 GHz works well for the 6600K. See this resource.
