I'm trying to overclock my i5 6600k using the M5 gaming board from MSI Z170A, following the tutorial. When I enter a CPU ratio of 46, it functions properly. I notice it drops back to 35 when I lower the number, but I want to go even lower than 35. Please help.

Does it reset right after pressing enter, or does it return after saving and restarting?

Have you checked if the BIOS is updated? This might not solve the problem, but it's a solid initial action.

Have you considered updating the BIOS?
It might not always solve the problem, but it's a solid initial action.
Some say it carries risks, like damaging your PC, so there could be better alternatives.

The main concern when updating BIOS is the possibility of interruption, such as a power outage. In areas with frequent blackouts, this can pose a risk without a UPS. Otherwise, it doesn't seem very dangerous. I've likely updated BIOS several times on my motherboard.
