Hi, your new mobo has an H170 chipset. Can you install your i5-6600k there? You mentioned it requires a Z170 chipset, but I need to check if your mobo supports the H170. If not, should I replace the mobo or just avoid overclocking? Thanks.

You can't increase the clock speed on that motherboard, but don't worry, you won't have to. In fact, I'd send the CPU back before returning the motherboard.

I just got my mobo with an h170 chipset. Can I run my i5-6600k on it? I understand it requires a z170, but can I still overclock it in this mobo? If not, should I replace the mobo or just avoid overclocking? Thanks.

"H170" provides all the details we need to confirm you cannot overclock it. Have you purchased a CPU cooler yet? If not, return the 6600k and receive an i5 6500.
