Hi, I'm a new PC builder trying to purchase components for my i5 6600k Skylake CPU. I've already got some parts but am unsure if they'll work together. The items I have are: CPU, EVO 212 cooler master, Intel graphics (planned to buy later), NZXT S340 case, WD Blue 1TB hard disk, Axevir Core RAM 8GB, MSI H110M motherboard, and a Rosewill Valens 600W PSU.

The motherboard will now support CPU overclocking. It should activate, though its performance may not be as expected.

I'm about to receive a more affordable, non-K i5 6600. The K model should suffice, though it won't support overclocking. If you don't want to overclock, it's not worth the investment, so consider spending it on a new GPU instead.

I have an i5 6600k CPU but others said I can't overclock it with my motherboard. I'm new and don't understand what overclocking means. Dragos Manea explained that overclocking occurs when you increase your CPU's speed beyond its original factory setting. It can boost performance but may cause more heat, requiring a good cooler. It would be helpful to know the type of motherboard you have—overclocking isn't possible if it's not Z170 or Z270.

I was working on assembling my PC and noticed my i5 6600k isn't compatible with my H110M motherboard. I'm trying to figure out which motherboard would work best. Could you share a link from newegg.ca? I'm not sure what overclocking is, but would it be worth it?

I understand, I need to figure out which CPU to buy instead of the K series.
