I need suggestions on upgrading my GPU and PSU .
Current specs.
Intel i5-650 @ 3.20 GHz
Asus p7h55 mobo
Hynix 8 gb ram @1333 MHz
Asus 6670 2GB ddr5
WD 500 GB HDD
450 watt PSU.
Future specs.
Intel i5-650 @3.20 GHz
P7h55 mobo
Hynix 8gb ram @ 1333 MHz
Zotac Gtx 1050ti 4GB ddr5
WD 500 GB HDD
Suggest PSU for this build
and also please tell me will i5-650 bottleneck with Gtx 1050ti @ 1650x1050 with med-high graphics in csgo and battlefield 1?
Tom's GPU Hierarchy Chart places the 2C/4T i5-650 in the same tier as my older 4C/4T Q9550 I have. And it doesn’t bottleneck a GTX 1050 Ti.
There may be certain games under certain circumstances that max out the CPU usage before the GPU, but even with that I wouldn’t go for any less graphics card. Online gaming will take a higher toll on the CPU than say single player mode gaming.
But a high quality 300W can power the GTX 1050 Ti unless it has a 6-pin header and you OC. As to the PSU, you’ll need to state the make/model of the 450W you have now and the 500W you intend to buy. Total wattage is not sufficient. It depends on how much of that wattage is devoted to the +12v rail; the rail that…

Im looking to put together a cheap system for my cousin and I have a i5-680 spare w the mobo.
So I wanted to know if you did end up buying the 1050ti? if you did could you tell me how the games ran and if the CPU was giving you any problems?

than the i5-650 will help a tiny bit. But it is still an aging dual core, and it will struggle in multiplayer games on busy servers with lots of other players. It won't have nearly that much trouble in single player gaming however. Either way, the GTX 1050/1050 Ti would still be my choice in spite of that.
Thanks. I was looking a a decent pc that needs a GPU and its set. All checks out but I was not 100% about the CPU. I imagine that he would mostly play the likes for fortnite csgo LoL maby tf2. I thought the sub 250€ pc would do all that with no problem. Mby even a sub 200€ if when I get confirmation on the psu its decent enough to handle a RX 470/480
P.S. few month old is quite a nice way to describe this 2017 thread.

The i5-680 isn't strong enough to make efficient use of even the GTX 1050 Ti w/o seeing
some
bottleneck at times. The RX 470 and 480 are even more bottlenecked by the CPU. You can of course use whichever card you want with it, but your return on investment will diminish.
