I'm testing an i5 4690k @3.5ghz. My idle temps are around 70 degrees, but when benchmarking with cinebench it rose to 90 degrees Celsius. Asus AI Suite reported a VCore temp of 55 degrees Celsius. After overclocking to 4.3ghz at 1.2v, idle reached 80 degrees and benchmarks hit 100 degrees with a VCore of 70 degrees. I got worried and restarted the PC, undoing all changes. Could there be an issue with my CPU cooler or is this typical? I'm using a Cooler Master Nepton 240M.

idle @70C there seems to be an issue. Consider taking off the heat-sink, reapplying thermal paste, and re-seating the cooler. If you're using a poor component or a hot room, temperatures might reach the 30s or 40s C, possibly up to the 50s if conditions aren't ideal.

atomicWAR :
idle at 70C seems off. Consider taking off your heat-sink, reapplying thermal paste, and re-seating the cooler. Expect idle temperatures around the 30s or 40s C—possibly higher if using poor silicon or a hot room instead of 70C... I'll handle this in a few hours and update you on the outcome.

I attempted to reapply my thermal paste and remount my cooling block, but high temperatures persist. When the PC powers on, the water pump makes a loud gurgling sound, suggesting it's functioning. Here are the temperatures from idle and during the Cinebench CPU test:

where I exceed 90 degrees during stress testing.

These are the cooling paste and cooler I'm using.
