I've boosted my i5 4690k to 4.3Ghz at 1.100V using a Hyper 212 EVO, and I'm checking if this brings any noticeable gains over the stock version (3.5Ghz) for gaming or editing tasks. I've already pushed it as soon as I bought it, so I didn't have time to test the stock model, and I stopped because the ultra-fast boot process now requires resetting the BIOS each time.

I've boosted my i5 4690k to 4.3Ghz at 1.100V using a Hyper 212 EVO. I'm curious if this brings any noticeable gains compared to the stock version (3.5Ghz) in gaming or editing tasks. Since I've overclocked as soon as I bought it, I haven't really experienced the stock model. The reason I stopped going back is that the ultra-fast boot changes make it hard to enter BIOS without resetting.

I currently have an i5 4690k overclocked to 4.5Ghz at 1.2V with a Hyper 212 EVO, and I notice performance improvements mainly in CPU-heavy games like DayZ or Arma.

Ah right, I might try pushing it to 4.5Ghz. What are the typical idle and max temperatures you see when playing GPU-intensive games?

Jared_7 asked about performance differences between stock and overclocked i5 4690K in gaming and editing. He mentioned his own experience with a 4.3Ghz overclock and noted difficulty resetting BIOS due to ultra-fast boot changes. He also shared that he saw gains from overclocking to 4.5Ghz but is curious about idle and max temperatures during GPU-heavy games.

I've overclocked my i5 4690k to 4.3Ghz at 1.100V with a Hyper 212 EVO and I was wondering if there are any noticeable improvement from stock (3.5ghz) in term of gaming/editing. I've overclocked my CPU as soon as I bought it therefore I haven't really experienced a stock i5 4690k and the reason why I haven't went back is because ultra-fast boot change has made it difficult to enter into bios without having to reset etc
I have an i5 4690k overclocked to 4.5ghz at 1.2V with hyper 212 evo and I do see performance gains but mainly in games that are cpu heavy like dayz or arma
ah right I see, I might try 4.5Ghz myself what idle temps and max temps do you normally get when playing GPU intensive games??
Idle temps range from 30 to 35, and
max
temps using OCCT were 70C. Now as far as gpu intensive games, I can't really give my input there. But I recommend using OCCT as it will test your cpu to the max.

Jared_7 shared his experience with overclocking an i5 4690k. He tested it at 4.3Ghz with a Hyper 212 EVO and noted improvements over the stock 3.5Ghz in gaming and editing tasks. He mentioned that since he overclocked the CPU right after purchase, he didn’t revisit it due to difficulties entering BIOS without resetting. He also reported seeing performance gains mainly in CPU-heavy games like DayZ or Arma, but noted idle temperatures stayed between 30-35°C and max temps reached around 70°C during GPU-intensive gameplay.
