Comparing the I5-2400 to the AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, the Ryzen offers better performance for your gaming needs. The Ryzen 3 3200G is more suitable given your current setup and future plans. As for the AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, it’s a solid choice but may feel limited with your existing I5-2400. Your budget allows for a mid-range build, and the Ryzen 3 3200G fits well within your $300-$400 range. Your GTX1050TI is already causing performance issues, so upgrading to the Ryzen would be a good move.

This low-cost CPU lacks future-proof capabilities. A 3200g would be a better choice.

Consider aiming for a 1600 or wait for the 3100/3300X. (unless you lack a dedicated graphics card and intended to use the iGPU). In addition to a new motherboard, you'll also need to replace your memory, since the DDR3 on your current system isn't compatible. To address your query, the 3200G offers a significant improvement due to its higher IPC.

The 3200g may seem limited, but it works well for its intended purpose. Upgrading your motherboard and RAM will be necessary if you want longer-term support. How much are you planning to spend overall for the entire system upgrade?

It's significantly improved compared to the 2400, though it isn't ready for the future. Wait a month and order the 3100 – that's far superior.

With a good graphics card, the 3200G offers minimal improvement and may not justify the cost. Its CPU power is about what a 4th generation i5 provides, which is typical for Intel as performance gains tend to slow over time.

The move to the 3200g doesn't seem justified given the platform change, the minor variation, and the upcoming 3100 release. If I were you, I'd hold off on the 3200g and save up for the 3100 to better handle the platform switch. Future-proofing the 3200g isn't really a wise choice, as future-proof processors usually cost more upfront.

I understand you're looking for a new motherboard and RAM. You currently own a GTX1050TI, which means it's no longer needed. Your budget is between $300 and $400, with a possible increase in the future.

Are you choosing an iGPU because of a particular need rather than for performance gains? The 3200G offers solid results, but you could consider the upcoming 4-core models like 3100 or 3300X for better value. Alternatively, the 1600 AF provides a more affordable entry point.

Not an upgrade, just a complete overhaul needed.
