i5-13600kf paired with Z690 motherboard
I understand the need to refresh the BIOS for the Z690 model of the i5-13600kf. I’m unsure if switching to a Z790 or going with an i7-12700kf will affect performance, and I’m considering whether to upgrade to DDR5-5200MHz 32GB RAM. My existing setup is an i7-9700k DDR4-3000MHz with 16GB, paired with DDR5-5200MHz 32GB.
Z690 and Z790 models should perform equally if they meet the power requirements. Regarding 12700KF versus 13600KF, according to TechPowerUp's data, the latter is slightly quicker in most scenarios, though it edges out in a few tests. If costs are comparable, choosing the 13600KF seems more advantageous.
There will be differences mainly between DDR5 and DDR4. If you're using a DDR4 board and comparing it to DDR5, that's where the main variation occurs. The smaller chip power delivery should also be fine on a Z board, as it's just a minor adjustment. Nothing major to worry about.
