Hello, I've been using my PC for almost a year now. This unit wasn't assembled by me; it came from a UK retailer named SCAN. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the device, though it tends to get quite warm. For most games it performs adequately. The processor typically reaches around 65-70°C during gameplay. Unlike Cyberpunk 2077, this title pushes temperatures into the 80s, especially in crowded spots like the market near Tom's Diner. I’d like to share the precise CPU temperature readings, but I haven’t located the complete specifications, which I believed were saved. I’m certain it’s a Corsair iCUE AIO model, though I can’t confirm the exact variant. I’m also uncertain about the system setup or whether SCAN attempted any overclocking. CPUZ indicates that after downloading Throttlestop to evaluate turbo impact, I still achieved around 60 FPS with a stable frame rate, while the CPU temperature dropped from above 80°C to between 60-70°C. What’s happening? How can I improve cooling without sacrificing performance? I’m new to adjusting CPU voltages, so please keep it simple. Thank you ahead of time.

Hey there, friend. When I first got my 13600k (including the scan results), I powered it on and immediately noticed how intense these new Intel processors were running, even when set to default. At first I wondered if I'd messed up the water block installation, but then I realized they really heat up. Undervolting is exactly what you should do. I adjusted mine to around 1.2v core voltage, with a full-core P-core overclock of 5.4 and an E-core overclock of 4.4. Usually it stays under 65°C during most games, dropping to about 75°C if I push it hard with Cinebench R23. The best approach is to look up a YouTube video showing the OC settings for your specific motherboards, since there can be differences between brands. If you get stuck in confusion, just come back here—I’m sure someone will help you figure out the BIOS tweaks and which settings to keep.

Adjusting voltage on a B660 board differs significantly from doing it on a Z790 board. Intel has imposed certain limits on B660 models, requiring workarounds. In the BIOS, navigate to the Tweaker's Paradise area. Many Asus B660 units offer an option to run the older microcode version, 0x104. This step is essential for disabling Intel Undervolt Protection. Once completed, boot up and apply ThrottleStop 9.6 to reduce CPU core and P Cache voltages. Starting with a -100 mV offset for both settings is recommended for testing. Several users have noted that even with the early 0x104 microcode, BIOS-based undervolting can still cause issues. It may activate IA-CEP or Intel Current Excursion Protection, potentially halving Cinebench performance. Conduct extensive Cinebench R23 tests before and after adjustments. A 13600K on a B660 should achieve around 24,000 points in R23. I believe Guru3D still provides this version. Share a screenshot of the ThrottleStop FIVR window; it indicates whether Undervolt Protection is active. When using the early microcode, ensure you don’t see “Undervolt Protection” in the FIVR display. 1.3c is quite elevated compared to my current readings—currently at 1.15v during full load, reaching a peak of 65c in gaming mode and 77c in R23.
