Hi, I’m evaluating CPU options for my new PC setup. I’m considering the i3 at $150 and the i5 at $210 (NZD). My current specs include a GTX 1060 with 3GB RAM, x4 4GB 2400MHz memory, a 500GB Samsung M.2 SSD, and a Gigabite B460 Aorus Pro AC motherboard. My screen is 1920x1080 with a 144Hz monitor. I’m on a tight budget and need to factor in additional costs for power supply, case, and cooling if I go with the i5 instead of the i3. Would you think the i5 offers a meaningful improvement over the i3?
You can function well with a single i3 core, but modern systems favor six cores. I suggest choosing this model instead of the i3. A balanced setup is still ideal, and using an i3 isn't a problem if you need to redirect money from other parts. Share your complete component plan before I endorse the i3 solely based on your budget.
I personally wouldn't suggest it either since most games claim they run on i3 or i5, but that's mainly for getting the game started, not real speed.
