I wish I had chosen Rainbow Six Siege via Uplay instead of Steam.
I wish I had chosen Rainbow Six Siege via Uplay instead of Steam.
I recently reviewed my Amazon credits and found I had sufficient funds to purchase R6 for free. I hadn’t realized that the digital key sold by Ubisoft is exclusive to Uplay, not a standalone distribution service requiring Steam. That was a mistake—I now can’t remove R6 from the Uplay library, and buying it through Steam seems to just create a duplicate version. The Ubisoft support team hasn’t responded either. I asked them to move the game to my burner account, but no reply came. I’m curious if moving R6 will actually clear it from Uplay. I appreciate how Steam highlights new features that Uplay doesn’t offer. Anyone have experience with Uplay or my current situation? How many players use the Uplay version of this game?
Steam version functions mainly as a shortcut; the friend list isn’t easily synced. Searching online didn’t reveal a method to connect your Steam list to Uplay. Regarding updates, there’s no clear way to show the latest Uplay release for R6 under "What's new" in Steam.
In such cases, they often overlook customers. Customer support is underpaid and few people are there. There’s also reliance on bots to fill gaps since they don’t pay them, which boosts profits. These platforms differ, with separate friend lists for Uplay, Steam, Origin, and Epic. However, GOG Galaxy 2 lets you access both worlds in one launcher, connecting your Playstation and Xbox friendships.
They're very different services. To play together, you must connect your Steam account to Uplay. If a Steam friend is playing a game, you can join by requesting their Uplay username. Generally, Steam only displays updates for games you own, so it probably won't show anything if you don't have the game there. For detailed information, visit the official changelog page.
I believed Uplay offers a sync friendlist option based on the "Link your account with Steam" image. It seems I'm limited to using Uplay... I can't even switch from Standard to Deluxe when purchasing from Steam. https://support.ubisoft.com/en-gb/Faqs/0...e-editions Even if bought via Steam, it just creates another copy in my Uplay library, which only makes things worse. The thing I'll miss most is the "what's new" section.
