The router is responsible for receiving the internet signal from the cable modem and distributing it throughout your home. YES, Spectrum supports customer-owned routers. You don’t have to pay a monthly fee of $5 for WiFi. If your device lacks WiFi capability, you’ll still need a separate adapter. Bluetooth is much slower than WiFi. A router becomes necessary when multiple devices require internet access. We prefer one integrated solution instead of multiple units, as most of them perform poorly and charge extra fees.
