I want to overclock my 9700K processor
Hi everyone, here are my PC specs: the CPU is a 9700k and the GPU is an RTX 2080 Gaming Trio running on an MSI Z390 Ace board. I want to boost my CPU speed up to 4.9 GHz to make games like AAA titles run smoother. Do you know the exact settings for this overclocking on an MSI Z390 Ace? Will messing with these settings hurt or break anything in the motherboard? If not, please show me how to do it. Thanks, Ryan
It is generally best to overclock right in the BIOS, or at least that's what everyone told me. Auto-overclock can use more power and run hotter than expected. I strongly suggest searching Google for tips and reading a few things first. I've already tried it on a few computers over time, but now I always check guides before doing anything with my newest PC.
Every setup is unique, even two identical builds can overclock differently. Read several guides for your motherboard and CPU. Different people have different opinions about safe voltages and settings. You shouldn't jump straight in with specific speed and settings; instead, make small increases, test them out, and if it works, keep going one step at a time. This is much bigger than just posting on a forum thread.
I can use Intel XTreme Utility to try and boost my CPU speed, but I don't know if it will suggest perfect settings or just give me what fits my processor. Is that right?
It's best to set up the CPU speed (overclock) right inside the BIOS, or at least that's what everyone told me. Turning it on automatically means using more power and getting hotter. I really suggest looking up some online guides and reading a few tips first. I have tried overclocking my computers before and still check out these instructions when I start one again.
