I want to buy a gpu
your prebuilt pc has components like an intel i5-10400f with 8gb ddr4 ssd and 256gb nvidia gt1030, which means your graphics card doesn't have pin connectors and the power supply also lacks them. you're considering upgrading to a gtx 1080 or 1660ti, so you should check if a new psu is necessary.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
i have a prebuilt pc and its components are:
Intel i5-10400F 8GB DDR4 SSD 256GB nVidia GT1030 2GB GDDR5
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
so my gpu doesnt have pin conectors, also the psu doesnt have, i want to upgrade to a gtx 1080 or a 1660ti, do i need to buy a new psu?
Thumb rule with PSU's and PC builds, if your PSU lacks the necessary connectors for your components, you either;
a| have the wrong PSU for the build
or
b| the wrong components for your PSU
We will additionally need to know your location, your preferred budget for your GPU purchase and your preferred site for purchase. One other thing, you won't find the above mentioned GPU's brand new, which is why I'd advise against buying used/second hand GPU's from all those generations ago in 2025.
