Hey there, everyone. Right now I’m using a ROG Swift monitor for my upcoming build, but for now I’m relying on a temporary 1024x768 setup until the new one arrives. Still, I have a laptop with a Radeon Mobility 5650 and an i7 processor (the exact model is on my mind). Its screen is 1366x768, which is quite different from the 720p or 1080p displays I’m trying to connect to. Before I even think about streaming resolutions, things get messy because the source and the laptop have completely different aspect ratios. My goal is to stream to a TV that supports either 720p or 1080p. I’m not just looking for a simple setup; I’m planning to build a custom mini ITX case for this purpose in the next couple of years, or at least enjoy streaming from my current rig. For now, I’m limited to what I have and am a bit stuck. My main concern is figuring out how to get Steam running smoothly at 720p or 1080p despite these mismatched resolutions. Would it be easier to move the laptop into the living room and plug in an HDMI cable directly, or should I stick with the current configuration? Thanks for your help!

I believe you're oversimplifying things. If I understand correctly, you're attempting to transfer your PC setup to a laptop, but the scaling factors differ. Steam should handle this by adjusting your desktop resolution to match the laptop's screen. There are options within Steam to set the streaming quality to 1080p, 720p, or 480p, and it should manage the scaling automatically.

That's good to hear. I was concerned about that issue before. If Steam handles it automatically and delivers the correct resolution, it should fix the problem.
