I upgraded my computer and am experiencing some initial problems.
So I recently upgrade my desktops processor its current specifications are as follows R9 7900X Asus prime X670-p wifi motherboard Ram 2X16GB DDR5 6000Mhz CL30 6800XT GPU I re-installed windows after the motherboard/cpu/ram swap currently on boot it spins the CPU fans up to what sounds like 100% for about 30 seconds before proceeding to boot normally (this does mean that the fans stop being at 100% so its not a PWM issue) - (apparently after a quick google this is "normal" and potentially bios updates might fix that but its an issue i'm having so i'm asking if it should be doing that in case it shouldn't) Whenever I open some hardware monitoring utility it will freeze for some 10-20 seconds such utilities include HWmonitor, MSI afterburner and ryzen master I have also had the system three times now twice before the upgrade and once just today break while playing a game with the same visual output to the monitor is this a driver issue or a sign that the GPU might be about to die on me? additionally does anyone know how to turn on eco mode in the bios? i have currently only figured out doing so in ryzen master but that limits it to 88 watt and while that does a quieter CPU make it appears to be a bit too low (GN did testing at some different levels of eco mode and their video made it sound like its a bios option but i can't find anything) (also i did turn on DOCP so the memory would run at its advertised speed)
You can manage DOCP and adjust speed manually, but keep all other options on AUTO with ALL settings enabled. Avoid forcing CAS configurations. Gaming, cooling, and ECO/Green don’t align well; choose Eco or skip Gaming to extend your PC’s lifespan. Although the system seems strong, the PSU details are crucial for future upgrades. An ultra-wide monitor would work better for most games, though it might be too small vertically for some. The newest GPU drivers aren’t universally compatible—updates aren’t always necessary, yet developers sometimes introduce issues. Corrupted drivers can cause crashes or performance problems if setups clash. Make sure drivers are tailored to your games and optimized in profiles to prevent such issues.
in bios i've only enabled docp, verified memory settings, and kept the psu as a seasonic prime 1kw titanium unit. It was recently replaced after the old one emitted blue smoke. I don't recall when the screen first appeared in the picture, but it's likely from a couple of drivers ago. It still works during hw monitoring, though i'm unsure why the computer pauses for 10-15 seconds when launching software—especially in eco mode where i found a toggle in ryzen master. Sometimes you need power for tasks like lighting setup or full builds, and other times you prefer quiet operation.
