I believe the PSU fan might be malfunctioning in your Synology device, can I simply swap it out? The unit tends to shut down unpredictably and display an error about improper shutdown. When powered on, it emits a blue light and occasionally makes a strange noise as if struggling. The fan is physically wired in. You're considering replacing it with a similar size and connecting the wires directly using electrical tape or another method. What are your thoughts?

The fan might display a label useful on the motor side. It's possible to verify with Synology if the device is still supported. The main worry would be whether you've cleaned the unit of dust and what certainty you have about the failures being caused by the cabinet or the drives.
