I suspect you encountered an unusual virus. To eliminate it, consider the following steps:
Suddenly, whenever I clicked a link, I encountered an error page. Random ads also appeared even on sites with ad blockers. Opening ad settings didn’t help, and after scanning with malware detection tools, some threats were removed but the issue persisted. It seems this only affects Chrome and not other browsers. Please help, it’s really frustrating.
Remove Chrome since it could be inserted, using Revo to delete all associated files.
Check for odd extensions or apps in Chrome that might be causing issues, or completely remove Chrome and verify all files are deleted.
Review your extensions for any unusual items that don’t fit. Install AdBlock if you haven’t already.
Have you checked extensions in Chrome? Resetting your Chrome settings might help. AdwCleaner could also assist: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownl...dwcleaner/
Reviewed my extensions, everything seemed normal. Oddly enough, it began after I opened my university emails. Curious, I searched online and found advice to remove the program from Windows and its extensions—though it wasn’t actually there. A friend suggested trying Hitman Pro, which I plan to attempt now.
I haven't set it up yet. It turns out Hitman Pro detected a lot of unwanted ads on my local data. I removed the entries and deleted my cookies to ensure everything was resolved. It's odd how accessing my university's email service led to ads showing up in my cookies.
