I require assistance regarding my computer.
Recently, I started experiencing disconcerting green distortions on my display screen. After eliminating potential problems with the monitor or HDMI connections, and ruling out any problematic software updates, my screen suddenly went blank. Now, whenever I power on the computer, it displays only a black screen. I’m unable to access the BIOS, and while the computer itself powers on and the fans spin, there’s no visual output whatsoever. Following some online inquiries, I suspect a faulty graphics card—so I purchased a replacement: an Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, but the issue persists. Next, I considered a possible power supply malfunction and bought a new 750W unit (G2), however, this also had no effect. I’m beginning to question whether the motherboard is the source of the problem, as it's an i5 system. I’m unsure if I may have damaged something during the hardware installation process. I would greatly appreciate assistance, as this situation has been intensely frustrating.
Is your HDMI port linked to your motherboard, or to the 1070Ti? Ideally, your HDMI connection should be with the 1070Ti.
Occasionally, repositioning an HDMI cable might cause a minor movement of the graphics card within its slot—this could indicate a problem or something more serious. It’s advisable to completely disconnect power and verify that the graphics card is firmly seated, along with ensuring its external power connections from the power supply unit are properly installed before restoring power. You can also test both graphics cards in another working computer system; however, a sudden electrical spike from bumping the card could potentially damage the motherboard. (On a beneficial note, motherboards typically cost one-third the price of a 1070 Ti, so you may be able to request a refund if your original graphics card is still functional).
