You're on a PC and just received a key. You're downloading the ISO file with it. To verify it works, follow these steps: make sure the key is valid, then create a bootable USB drive using the ISO. This way, you'll be ready to install it when you build your PC. Let me know if you need more help!

The key functions best when purchased from a trusted seller. What’s confusing you?

When getting the ISO from Microsoft’s site, you’ll need to provide the key first before proceeding with the download. The most effective method is to follow their official instructions carefully.

I attempted that, but I'm using Vista and it says I can't do it.

Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD download utility to upload the ISO file onto a USB drive or DVD. Flash it during installation, and you’ll be prompted for the product key. Note: This method also functions with Vista.

Yes, the item you purchased from the seller should function properly. You're facing challenges because your current setup uses an iMac with Windows Vista while preparing it on a flash drive for a new PC.

The issue arises because the Upgrade Assistant requires Windows 7 or later to function properly.
