Hey there, I'm really struggling with my PC setup. I run a side-hustle building PCs and fixing them. I'm not as experienced as some forum users, but so far none of my builds have come back or fixed the problems I've faced.

My system specs are: Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 3070TI, 32GB DDR4 RAM, B450 Tomahawk MAX, C: M.2 on M.2 drive, plus one HDD. For months I've dealt with blue screen crashes and various error codes, mostly pointing to Windows installation issues. Sometimes it's the GPU itself.

I tried reinstalling Windows 10 twice, but the installer kept failing. Then I switched to Windows 11, which I installed once and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, that also didn't work well. The Windows 11 setup ended up focusing on GPU problems—crashes but not blue screens, mostly memory issues.

I've looked up fixes and driver updates, but nothing seems to help. Just before writing this, I noticed something odd: all three monitors stopped working, the laptop's RAM lights went off, and my monitor fans stopped. I thought it was a crash, but I could still chat with friends on Discord. It happened twice in under two minutes, and both times it came back instantly.

I'm not sure what to do next. I'd appreciate any troubleshooting tips you can suggest, especially since they seem to match some of the "5 ways to fix GPU error" guides but haven't worked for me. Thanks a lot!

Consider M.2 options—SATA or NVMe—and assess if the onboard controller is reliable.

NVME connected to my C drive, plus I accidentally posted before finishing—I've added more details now. It's a WD Drive. I think my E: drive might have problems, possibly due to a Fangxiao or a low-cost PCIe adapter, while the C: drive is directly on the board.

Because you do this often, keeping extra parts handy helps a lot. For instance, replace the GPU and see if the problem stops. GPU trouble. Other components too.

Without the E:/ drive connected (or the PCIe adapter powered on), do you notice any problems? Is the adapter merely a basic interface that changes shapes without handling data, or does it include a processor like a storage controller?

It seems uncertain about this purchase. It's only for my Steam library and nothing else. I wouldn't rely on that drive or its fix for anything else, honestly. I haven't tried removing it. Could this affect the CBig Grinrive stuff I was experiencing? It's a SABRENT M.2 SSD NVMe to PCIe Adapter with Aluminum Heatsink and Thermal Pad, designed for SSDs up to 16TB, an M.2 NVMe to PCI-E converter 3.0 X4 X8 X16 Card (EC-PCIE). Install Windows on a single drive only, excluding the adapter.

I have another GPU—a GTX 970 that’s been running in my car for a long time. If it works, it could be a good sign, but I can’t say for sure it’s reliable just yet. My graphics card isn’t old. It was purchased on July 28, 2022, and is a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Ti VISION OC with 8GB of RAM.

Windows is located on the C: drive, while the other is not connected to the adapter.

Reject installation unless only the C drive is used. Windows often places files elsewhere on the system. The adapter might be interfering with its controller or another component. Eliminate it from consideration. Begin testing, avoid assumptions.
