I really dislike ChromeOS!
I usually run Linux Mint on my daily tasks besides Mac OS. It works well enough for everyday use even for people like my grandparents. I’ve been getting more comfortable with Linux Mint Cinnamon, which helps me show them how to use it and others who need to revive older devices.
It doesn't necessarily mean the hardware itself is flawed. There could be issues with pricing or marketing strategies. Brand preferences drive demand, but when the chosen components don’t meet expectations—especially when they’re built with premium parts but lack proper engineering—the experience suffers. Perhaps the real problem lies in cost-cutting measures that compromise quality, making even high-end systems feel subpar despite good branding and technology.
However, due to ChromeOS restrictions, placing it on high-quality devices doesn't work well—it only makes sense for basic low-end laptops. As I mentioned earlier, this results in a very slow experience. My perspective is that ChromeOS isn't suitable anywhere because it performs poorly on both budget and premium hardware. There are only a few computers that can run it smoothly—fast enough to use it effectively but not so fast that it restricts your ability to use powerful features or handle demanding tasks.
Even though ChromeOS offers many capabilities similar to Windows, it certainly doesn't cover everything. You're right—there are likely some tasks that are impossible or much harder on ChromeOS compared to Windows.
