I purchased an R7 5800X...
I intended to purchase an R9 5900x but faced difficulties during my search for months. The R7 5800x offers a slight performance drop and a lower price, so I went ahead with it. Anyone has experience with the R7 3700x? It’s the model I’m using now and I’m curious about the differences. Rumor says the 5800x is about 14% faster. I’ll share my findings later. Yes, this post isn’t necessary since I wanted to discuss it and lockdowns have made me less inclined to talk. Edit – this is for gaming.
What? A 1% improvement in speed. The 5900x performs much better in certain tasks, yet it's slightly more efficient overall. You haven't mentioned any details. If this relates to gaming, you probably won't notice a change with a 1080ti.
The main concern about the 5800x comes from its high price compared to other options. For the value you're getting, the 5900 seems like a better choice. I changed from Intel to the 5800x and also moved away from Nvidia at that time. While comparing to a 9900k is easier, setting up my system makes it tricky to replace the motherboard and RAM. You probably won't be disappointed with the 5800x—it remains a solid CPU.

They should cost less because more research and development are required, along with a more challenging manufacturing stage. Improving quality usually raises initial prices, so what you see today isn’t the same as it was two years ago.
