Last night I played normally with my VCore at 1.24 and everything worked fine. But when I woke up, my PC felt very slow—only 10 frames per second—and checking the MSI BIOS showed my VCore at 0.78. It didn’t return to normal. I’m really struggling and can’t afford to buy another computer, even though the one I have is already old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

We require details about the components. Please specify the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and GPU. Also, check if powering down or unplugging resolves the problem.

You need to power down your machine and disconnect the power cord. Allow it to sit for a few minutes. After that, remove the side panel to reveal the motherboard and internal parts. You’ll find a small coin-shaped battery inside a plastic compartment. Use a thin, non-metallic object like a toothpick to gently extract it from the slot. This action will reset your BIOS settings, which should bring clock speeds back to normal. Keep the battery in place for about 60 seconds before reinserting it in the correct position. Make sure the label facing up is positioned properly. After that, reinstall the side panel and reconnect the power cord. Restart your computer. This process usually resolves the issue.

If clock speeds remain low, it may mean the CPU is damaged or overheating. Your task manager might not show CPU temperature. If this doesn’t help, download a thermal monitoring tool (like the one from alcpu.com) to check temperatures. Temperatures above 90°C suggest poor cooling—apply fresh thermal paste if needed.

Before proceeding, ensure the computer isn’t powered on. If you’re comfortable, remove the CPU cooler and fan assembly, clean the thermal paste from the CPU and heatsink with isopropyl alcohol (avoid water), then reattach everything carefully. Once back in, check the task manager again. If problems persist, your CPU could be faulty. Good luck, and let me know if you need more help!

It's an MSI B150 gaming board with Intel i-7, 8 GB RAM, and an RTX 970 Ti graphics card. Powering it off doesn't fix anything, and after rebooting the PC it still doesn't work.

It looks a bit mixed up, but it’s worth giving it a shot. I’ll share more info soon.

Start by resetting your BIOS: power off the computer, unplug the cord, open the case, remove the button battery, wait 60 seconds, then reinsert it. This should clear the issue. If it doesn’t work, the problem is likely more complex.
