A small spark appeared near the RAM while cleaning the laptop. It was close to the motherboard under the RAM and battery area. When I opened it, the spark happened again, then turned off. After reinserting the RAM, it started up but there was no power to the ports or screen—only the fans were working. Am I in trouble?

Remove the battery, avoid connecting it to power, and let it rest for a few hours. You accidentally shorted something while handling it. This highlights the need to DISCONNECT the battery.

Are you finished? I've already sent it for repair and just want to know how it's done.

No thought since you didn’t really fix anything. It might just be a minor issue, or it could be a bigger problem. Let’s wait and observe what others say.

I performed a hard restart, repositioned the RAM, attempted a jump start, and noticed a faint indication of life before sending it away. I managed to adjust the brightness of my keyboard settings and that’s about it. I’ve identified four potential issues: RAM failure, CMOS battery, battery failure, or (please don’t be the one) motherboard problems.

The issue stemmed from power problems; some capacitors were damaged, requiring a new motherboard or replacing the battery and power components.
