I needed to slow down the clock to maintain stability.
Hello, when I update my CPU, it tends to crash during games or even while watching a video on YouTube. The issues aren’t due to overheating, as crashes occurred shortly after starting the Prime95 test. It doesn’t trigger under maximum temperature tests either. To keep stability, I had to lower the clock speed to 3.1ghz by adjusting the multiplier to 15.5. My system specs are:
CPU: 8350 AMD
M/B: 990xa-ud3 Rev 3
RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) at 1600mhz HyperX Savage CL9
Cooler: CNPS11X Permorma
I ran memtest overnight and got no errors. Here’s the current stable setup. Could someone assist in achieving at least the original speeds?
Consider trying memtest -- http://www.memtest86.com/ For the free edition. Using four DIMMs might require running the RAM at 1333 for stability.
try executing memtest -- http://www.memtest86.com/ just the free one. with four dimmers you might need to set ram to 1333 for stability.
as i mentioned, i performed memtest during the night without any issues.

As I mentioned, I ran memtest overnight without any errors.
Sorry, I didn't notice that.
When was the last time you installed a fresh OS?
Kanewolf suggested trying memtest -- http://www.memtest86.com/ and mentioned needing only the free version. He noted that with four DIMMs, running RAM at 1333 MHz might be necessary for stability. He also confirmed he had run memtest overnight without errors.
If memtest completes without issues during a full night, then your CPU and memory seem to be in good shape. Power supply might be the next thing to check. Since memtest doesn’t stress the GPU, its power consumption should be minimal. Could you tell me what kind of power supply you have?
If memtest completes without errors during the night at normal speeds, your CPU and memory are likely okay. Power supply might be next on the list. Memtest doesn’t strain the GPU, so power consumption should be minimal. What model of PSU do you have? ThermalTake SmartSE 630 is the one you’re using. I’m concerned about the motherboard possibly struggling with the CPU performance, but according to Gigabyte’s site it supports the 8350. The GPU appears stable, with temperatures staying under 60°C even when fans run at full speed during games. I’m not sure if the GPU is the issue since Prime95 doesn’t stress it, or if my assumption is incorrect.
If you look up Tom's for that power supply, many senior members will mention it negatively. Personally, I wouldn't trust it, but it seems like a strong possibility. The power supply is problematic — you can check the forum link for more details. It might help to consider an AMD Overdrive setup and monitor the voltage readings. A 990 motherboard should work well with an 8350 CPU.
If you look up Tom's for that power supply, many senior members will say it's not good. Personally, I wouldn't trust it. The power supply seems to be a problem. Checking the forum link can help pick a better model. I usually go with SeaSonic. You might try AMD Overdrive and check the voltage readings. A 990 board should work well with an 8350 CPU. It was something I considered but doubted could be verified. Which one should you rely on for voltage?
