League of Legends stands among the most favored titles globally, contributing to the rise of competitive gaming and PC entertainment. It offers reasonable visuals and gameplay, making it one of the best-designed experiences I’ve encountered. Still, its value remains limited for me due to a single issue: it’s not enjoyable. This outlines the typical experience in a solo or duo queue-based ranked match.

You enter a lobby where you, along with four others, select champions and assign roles. Communication often falters; some may be rude, demanding specific roles, or act disrespectfully. Eventually, teams are assigned, and the game starts.

There’s roughly a 5% chance someone on your side has experienced a crash or intentionally left. If so, the team might complain about AFK usage or, rarely, adapt by forming a new strategy without the missing player.

After some frustration or silence, matches begin. In the lanes or jungle, you’ll face challenges—someone dies, usually because they were lagging, a counter plays, or another mistake. The explanation is common: someone was insulted, either by the opponent or fellow teammates.

The game keeps going, with deaths happening occasionally. It’s strange that a teammate always seems to vanish. When this occurs, blame shifts—someone claims it was their fault, others say it was a team error.

For a few minutes of farming or killing monsters, someone inevitably dies. The reason is unclear, but it feels inevitable. The player who passed out was “lagging,” the enemy champion was a counter or “SUPER OP,” or another mistake.

Typical justifications follow: insults from rivals or teammates, who see communication as the only way to stay focused. Yet unlike console matches, this game often lasts 30–45 minutes, and silence usually means someone is being targeted.

Once the early fights are over—towers destroyed, dragons slain, blame spread—it’s time for a team battle. Each fight can shift the game’s momentum, making every decision crucial.

Afterward, the post-match chat reveals tension. Players often threaten to report, curse each other, or give instructions on uninstalling. Today, I chose to follow that advice and uninstalled the game.

I’ll miss playing with friends who share my passion, but I’m confident I won’t regret it. Playing League of Legends feels mentally taxing. Games should offer escape and joy, not stress or anger. For me, it seems more like a source of tension than relaxation.

I saw the headline. Thank you, my lord, for whatever reason. I have confidence you'll grow into a better person.

Avoid normal moves and aim for stronger play to climb higher ranks. You won’t find much of that in the games I’ve played on Diamond 1.

I believe these contests are unfair. There seems to be no talent required for LOL. Great comment!

Same for me. When everyone tried this game, they all seemed really bad at it. They kept talking stuff like: ppffff bronzieee / nooob / low elo / ooh look at my golden border / etc. I quit the game four months ago. After playing it for about a thousand hours.

I could claim this endlessly but the conversation seems endless. This discussion won’t stop, so I’ll focus on a few points. Not even 5% of the lobbies are like this—it’s not limited to LoL. Dota? Russians and terrible comps everywhere. Smite? Four carries no initiator. Not restricted to LoL, so it feels pretty pointless. Maybe in bronze 5 it could be. But if someone is struggling early, you can bet they’re dealing with something out of their control. Most will handle it without trouble, and the jungler usually steps in to fix things. Sure, someone might report it, but that’s inevitable in any game with a reporting system. Gee, assigning blame to others feels new? I used to think people always took responsibility for their mistakes. Kappa. This argument keeps coming up. Most folks just do it to look smarter and it’s human nature. I could keep going but I won’t.

I’ve stopped playing for almost identical reasons. The main factor that made me quit was the nearly 30% chance your or one of your teammates would ping to skyrocket into the thousands during most of the match, guaranteeing a loss. I just got exhausted from being frustrated for 40 minutes at a time.
