Hello, I reached out because my homemade computer is having problems and it freezes unexpectedly. Even when just browsing the internet, it won’t respond properly. When it freezes, the screen stays on whatever you were watching—like a screenshot of YouTube or a full-screen playback. There’s no sound, no keyboard shortcuts, and nothing seems to work except shutting it down completely. It happens randomly, whether I’m playing games or just watching videos. I’m unsure if it’s a software or hardware issue, and I’ve tried many Windows updates. My PC specs are: AMD FX™-6300 Six-Core Processor, Corsair Vengance Pro 16GB DDR3, 2133MHz, MSI Extreme Gaming graphics, and a Black edition motherboard with Hyper 212 cooler. Thank you.

Have you performed a fresh installation of Windows? Have you considered upgrading to an SSD?

You've encountered comparable problems with both systems, and it seems the Spectre update might have caused an issue.

I just put Windows 10 in, and I considered switching to an SSD but haven’t done it yet.

I'm still reaching out just in case someone has information or a solution.

It's interesting you mention that. I faced the same issue with my PC before getting the FX6300, which lasted about a year until I switched to a Ryzen 5.
