I need assistance with your upcoming upgrade.
Hello, new poster. I upgraded my PC with a prebuilt system when the RTX 30XX series came out. I’m curious about the best upgrade path to see improvements in gameplay, frame rates, and overall quality. I was thinking a stronger CPU or more RAM would help, but I want something reasonably priced—knowing that some parts could cost more for a clear difference. I’m also looking for gift ideas for Christmas and might be asking for suggestions. Thanks for your support!
The CPU and RAM would really benefit from an upgrade. If you're comfortable purchasing a used CPU, consider searching for an i9 9900(K)(F) and you should likely find a solid price. For the RAM, aim to locate a 3600MHz model.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I was wondering what my next upgrade is where i can notice gameplay bumps and frames and/or quality What sort of titles are you taxing your current build with? Please stylize your thread with info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. and the community can move forward with worthwhile suggestions. I would keep the upgrade to an i7 for the processor since that VRM looks mediocre. As for your ram, look at a tight latency DDR4-3200MHz/DDR4-3600Mhz ram kit if you're not able to overclock the ram you have to manually get to said frequency with laxed timings. i7-8700k might be the one you're after. The i7-9700k offers two extra cores (8t), while the 8700k is a 6c/12t chip more akin to the newer i5s.
The choice really hinges on your budget. You'll need to consider the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and possibly a cooler.
You could upgrade to another Intel 12th-14th generation CPU. The Arrow Lake (200 series, 15th Gen) is an option, though it's still costly. AMD 7000 series chips are currently quite budget-friendly.
It might also be worth switching your operating system to a faster TLC NAND drive. QLC storage works well for large amounts of data, but isn't ideal as the core component. Upgrading to a newer motherboard will also give you access to PCIe 4.0/5.0, which is sufficient for SSDs and graphics right now (including the PCIe 4.0 capable 3070).
it wouldn't let me add any extra details, indicating it might be spam
You already possess an M.2 NVMe storage device. The motherboard provides space for at least another full-sized drive.

And you can progress to premium options such as WD Black, Samsung 980 and 970 Evo along with similar models.
