Hello everyone. This is my debut on these platforms, so please be gentle with me. Warning: the 1080ti and AMD 5900X are included. I’ve found some local users who have new components recently. Basically, I upgraded my system last week for the first time since around 2018. I got a 5900X, a 1080Ti, two extra sticks of the same RAM I used before (now I’m using four, they’re Ripjaw V 8GB x4 at 3200), plus a new PSU – the Corsair 750x. I thought it was time to refresh and needed a better PSU. Also, I swapped in a Noctua 15D for AM4. All dimensions look fine. Kept some old fans, my NZXT S340 case, and the ASUS Strix B350 gaming PC. Everything is functioning properly so far – no issues in years of gaming.

The problem? I’ve set everything up and it’s not working. Lights are flashing orange on the bottom indicating power delivery to fans, and there’s an orange light beside the RAM slot. The manual or forums don’t clarify what orange means – I’m confused whether it’s okay or not. I needed a Dp to HDMI cable because the GTX 1080 Ti EVGA doesn’t support full HDMI routing. I also tried booting without the GPU and without RAM, but nothing happened. I rebooted with one stick in the third RAM slot (the default spot), still no luck. Used another monitor, but nothing worked either.

I don’t have a monitor that supports DP output, so I haven’t tried a DP to DP cable. If you have any questions, feel free to ask – I’ll do my best to help. Also, this might seem strange here, but if you’re okay with it, a Discord chat with a tech expert would be great. I really want this upgrade to succeed and it’s frustrating. TL;DR: the PC won’t boot after upgrades, so why isn’t it working?

It seems the system might require a BIOS update to accommodate more CPU cores, especially if you're aiming for 12 cores. The manual mentions support for up to 8 cores, but others suggest it should still function. Check your motherboard documentation or contact support to confirm if an update is necessary for full core utilization.

Have you upgraded the system's BIOS? The model doesn't accept the 5000 series unless you completed that process.

Competitively, I won’t back the AMD 5000 series until BIOS 6042 is released. If you haven’t updated it, replace the old CPU and install the latest version.

Isn’t it a repeat of the connection attempt? Should I consider using my previous GPU? Also, please note I haven’t modified or installed any drivers prior to the upgrade, which might cause problems.

Thanks for the update on the bios and motherboard. The latest version is shown, but it doesn't seem to be rendering properly on your new setup. Let's troubleshoot together.
