Today I swapped out my motherboard and CPU for an Asrock B450 Pro 4 and a Ryzen 5 2600. The system boots and shows correct specs in BIOS, but it won’t start. Initially, I tried booting from the old boot drive, which reported missing files in System32. Then I attempted installation media, still getting errors about missing or corrupted System32 files. After reinstalling the media creator on the flash drive, a graphical warning appeared—something related to an image file. Notably, the errors vary: sometimes it points to a specific file, other times it mentions kernel corruption or a failed certificate verification. Before this upgrade, my rig had an i5 6500 MSI Z170A, GTX 1070 16GB DDR4 RAM. Now it’s the same except for the new parts.

Check your memory performance, it might be failing. https://memtest.org/

This version hasn't changed in ten years. A fresh update was just dropped, though it's still in early testing. The recommended tool is here: https://www.memtest86.com/

It remains valid and accurate, though the outcome depends on factors.

You might be right about the RAM being the issue, but it’s worth checking the memory slots too. Run some tests to confirm.

Disable XMP if active. Otherwise, consider unstable RAM and replace it for better results.

I’m not turning it on, but I’ve made some updates. I took out one of the sticks, which lets me access windows and control the system. However, I encountered a BSOD related to memory issues, and MemTest is still reporting problems. It might be time to replace the memory sticks.

Great, I've got the new RAM installed. I'll let you know once I've had a chance to try it out.
