Early Access sounds appealing, but why do people reject it? Let me explain my point. First, why would developers offer a discounted version before the final release? The goal is usually to gather more testing and feedback during development. But selling an incomplete product at a lower price seems to attract buyers who just want to play, not contribute meaningfully. They don’t expect improvements or bug fixes. We’ve seen this with DayZ. In reality, Early Access should cost more than the final version. Honestly, it’s frustrating. Many online users act like they’re idiots—looking at you, the internet. Despite warnings about the game’s flaws, people still buy it hoping for a polished experience. The real issue is that some don’t grasp what “Alpha” really means. Once they play and discover bugs, they feel let down and get angry, thinking the game is still in development.
I won't even bother with this. Talking about all these things again wouldn't be fun—I'd rather break something than waste more time.
No, early access needs to be accessible at no cost. Either fully free open testing or paid closed alpha/beta versions for a select group who truly understand how to evaluate games. I’m currently in the Evolve alpha and already notice people using it more like a game demo rather than a test. They’re not there to assess the game, they just want to play it. Your role should be to identify ways to break the game and provide feedback so developers can fix issues before launch. Why would anyone charge extra for an incomplete product? Would you pay more to watch an unfinished film just to assist the creators?
