USAFRet : You absolutely have to do an entire system reset and don't set that hard disk as your drive letter. Really. I'm wondering if it's possible to use a tool like AOMEI Partition Assistant to switch the drive letter of the partition where the operating system lives?
Starspiker: I only copied the game folders. I didn't tell Steam because I couldn't figure it out all along. I thought you already put them in your library the right way. Just follow what USAFRet told me on how to put that folder in the place it needs to be.
Koolstr : USAFRet : And you really need to do a whole new Windows installation and not use the A as the drive letter. That's true. I'm wondering if it is possible to use a partition manager like AOMEI Partition Assistant to change the drive letter of the partition where the OS is installed? No, that won't work. If you try it, then you will have to reinstall everything all over again.
I moved the game folder files exactly how you told me to do it, but they don't show up in the Library. They're all still inside the folder. The library setting just points to where these files actually are now.
Starspiker: I changed those game folder files exactly as you told me to do, but they still aren't showing up in my Library. All the actual game files are there, though. The library is actually set to point to that folder where the games live. Not sure what you mean by "the library is set to the file they're in." I don't know if something went wrong with whatever you did. What happens now? Maybe just download them again and put them somewhere else, like a different drive or folder?
Star: I think the folder with my games, D:\Steam2\steamap\common, is where I put the library info, but Steam doesn't find them even though it shows up inside \common\. Can you see all those little game folders inside? If you can, I don't know what to do anymore.
Starspiker: I'm saying that the folder where the games live, D:\Steam2\steamap\common, has to have the library set up right. But sometimes Steam just doesn't see them there. If you made a mistake in typing the name of the place, try this instead: make sure it says "steamapps" and not "steamap". Go ahead and check that spelling first. There is a pretty good chance that just going to each game you want, clicking install, and picking your D drive folder (specifically looking for Steam2) will fix things. Once Steam sees the games are already on your computer's hard drive, it will verify them and download any missing pieces or updates. This is how I fixed my external games so they show up in Steam again. So if you have this same issue, try this fix now!
You can now put games inside Steam Client. Just pick a second library, right-click on the game, hit Properties, go to Local Files, and click Move Game there. It used to take too much time, but that changed.
