The computer starts up and works okay now, but I'm worried it could catch fire later down the road. Anyone with some tips would mean a lot to me! I also want to know if it can be fixed by rewiring the parts inside.

It looks like a surface mount transistor or maybe a diode. Does it have three solder pads or just two? It doesn't look like a capacitor or a resistor, but it is very small. If the laptop stops working without this part, that means it was connected in parallel with something similar to it, or was being used in a less important way. When people make bills of materials for motherboards, they often use things like transistors as pull-downs or diodes because those are cheaper than getting another piece from the parts bin. If this part was sitting next to another component doing its job, then whatever is left over has more work to do. This could cause it to break earlier. A big fire probably won't happen right now. You might be able to fix it yourself if you have the right tools and steady hands. Just remember to use a thermal soldering station, a magnifying glass or scope, and some fine tweezers. I can't really tell where this part came from.
