All the other screws came out fine, but the top left screw stayed in place as if taking it away would end everything. I had to remove it, which meant I couldn't use the rubber band method anymore and now don't have a Dremel. What should I do next?
I don't really know the amount of space available for work there. You might try using a small vice grip and carefully attempt to break the bonded grip it appears to have. This suggestion applies if you're comfortable with this kind of repair. If you're unsure, it's better to find someone you trust who can remove it safely. Also, consider checking Amazon for a replacement screw kit for laptops.
Do you have sufficient give to reach the edges with a few pliers and turn the screw manually? You might also consider using steel wool if the rubber band method didn't succeed. If those options fail, you may need a drill and a screw extractor set.
I might be able to handle that. I've worked with smaller stripped screws before, so I think I could do it. Ignoring the screw kit, would you consider super gluing the screwdriver onto it, letting it settle a bit before trying?
I can't say if the glue is a good idea . I never tried it. I do think vice grips just might have enough grab area but like I said hard to see how much meat there is to grab on to in your picture.
If not like DSzymborski suggested might need to get the drill out.
Again there is high risk of damage if you slip up.
After several attempts using pliers and kitchen knives, I finally managed to create a small groove and remove it. I plan to replace it. Thanks for the assistance!
